Q: Briefly describe your life growing up.

A: Kid who was much to himself, always had an ear for music.  I used to write the lyrics from songs as they played on the radio before I got into writing my own.  I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and uncle, raised with country influence.

Q:  How long have you been doing music?
A: I've been creating music since elementary school.  I was writing a sentence or two and calling it a song.  My sister and I used to record songs on our mom's tape recorder, playing music off of another tape player.  The creative process evolved, obviously, over the years.  I can say I've been organized, in more serious pursuit of a career in the industry since 2006.

Q: What artists have you collaborated with?

A: I frequently have collaborated with Bless, a great songwriter with a fine voice.  I've got a track, Serial Killers, with L'eais and Fresh and Munee of ETP.  I recently was in the studio with Sho Flacco.  Got a few tracks with Tommy Johnson sitting in the mixing cue.  I've got a few tracks with Spit Barz in the vault, "SHOWTIME".  I've got a lost collaboration with the female rap artist, Redd, that may be on the same screwy hard drive.  I've got an (unreleased) album and a half with my homie Mar.  These names I suggest you look up, if you don't know.  Got some things lined up with Shakes and Travesty of the Spotraiders.

Q: What producers have you worked with?
A: Traxx Beatz of The Lab, one of the best producers I know.  G'z Beats, out of Boston, who's done work with Terminology and Statik Selektah.  Architect Lordz, out of Florida, my record with them is being handled by Edward Nixon of the Justice League as this is being written.  I frequently collaborate with Munny Mark Ewing.  !llmind gave me the okay to release a track I recorded over a beat he was making with Kanye West in mind.  Got a lost track with Point Guard from way back, definitely need to re-up that.  I have a track from B-Beck that needs to be recorded, which is on me. A lot of collabs in the works, not finalized as of yet.  I'm about to dust off my keyboard and start working with myself again.

Q: Scale from 1-10.. What would you rate your stage performance?
A: My stage performace, The J'sar Show (#TheJsarShow), I prefer to leave to the opinion of the audience.  I won't personally give it a top rating because I'm my own worst critic.  I give a 10 on effort and tweak and perfect with each outing.  My suggestion, book J'sar and let your audience be the jury.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
A: With consistent work, I see myself doing music full-time.  I aim for top-tier, can't predict exactly what level I'll be, but that will dictate how I trampoline into other creative ventures.

Q: Do you think your career in the industry will be long term?
A: Once I'm in there, I'm in there for the duration.

Q: If you weren't so deeply involved with music.. What do you think you would be doing besides music?
A: If I wasn't so focused on music, I probably would be working on redemption right now for making some bad choices in my idle time.

"Can't Please Everybody"
J'sar (with permission from !llmind) lifts a track from !llmind beats for Kanye West EP to respond to all the voices in his ear. J'sar cryptically calls out everyone from the machine to the mirror.

!llmind, a Grammy Award winning producer, produced "The Morning" off of Kayne West's presents G.O.O.D. Music Cruel Summer LP.  !.B.F.K.W. consists of a collection of tracks produced during that time with Kanye in mind with co-production from Symbolyc One (Produced Kanye West’s “Power”, “Murder 2 Excellence” on Watch The Throne & part of Kanye’s “Very G.O.O.D. "Had Enough" http://soundcloud.com/jsar/had-enough
J’sar lifts Keisha Cole’s “Enough of No Love” instrumental to propose the question, have you really had enough? In an ode to the legendary Heavy D, J’sar performs a rendition of the hook from “Nuttin’ But Love” as the vocals of Keisha Cole meet with the instrumental once again.

"More Problems"

J'sar gets raw as a blaring organ sample rolls while this production places this Virginia rapper in a time capsule of classic hip-hop. J'sar introduces himself and reflects on the everyday struggle in a lyrical exhibition.
